Grace House

Grace House Community Centre is a non-religious, non-political registered Cambodian Non Government Organisation (NGO). Situated 4 kms outside of Siem Reap, on the road to Tonle Sap, where the villagers make a living subsistence farming and fishing. Grace House was opened in November 2008 by Globalteer, a UK charity, but is now an independent locally managed organization.

Aside of providing education, life skills and English languages classes for the children and youth, they offer programs for disabled children, have a youth club and provide a safe and active learning place for the children. For young adults they offer weaving classes, vocational training, computer classes and an electrical training program. The electrians have rewired 14 houses in the past months to bring them up to safety standards.

We support the computer classes by sponsoring a teacher, his name is Chun Trea. He teaches the use of standard office appliations like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. His students learn how to apply their skills among other office related tasks by writing their resumes in Khmer and English. None of the students have a computer at home so these classes are the stepping stone to a better future for them.

To be more self-sufficient in generating income (and not only depend on foreign fundraising) Grace House opened a English Tea House to provide refreshments for the tourist, who make their way towards Tonle Sap Lake. Stop by when you are in Siem Reap and say hello to Bridget or Alan, the managers of the Grace House.
